Creative Grief Processing for the Holiday Season
Class Description: Creative grief session by Ellen Bartel - embodied space for healing and a safe container for personal experiences.
The holidays can be difficult for all of us who carry grief. Please join us for a guided movement mediation and somatic sensing experience at Austin Bellydance & Somatic Movement Studio on Sunday, November 24th from 1:00-3:00PM. facilitated by Somatic Movement Educator, choreographer and dancer Ellen Bartel. Participants will be guided through time of reflection, walking meditation, gentle movement and witnessing through our grief. Resources will be offered if further support is needed. This workshop is open to all (18+).
Attire: wear comfortable clothing for gentle movement that will be seated and/or standing

About Ellen:
Ellen Bartel MFA, CMA, RSME, and is an award-winning independent choreographer and author of Tales of a Gen X Nobody a memoir depicting thirty years of performing in Austin, Texas. Ellen is the program director and instructor of a 560-hour somatic movement training program at Austin Community College where she also is adjunct faculty teaching modern dance. She served as the Interim Education Coordinator and Assistant Instructor at the Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies in NYC, as a facilitator of creative and somatic approaches to grief and previously has been a peer review dance panelist and Creative Ambassador both for the City of Austin.
